Rs21.378m recovered from M/s Pakistan Telecommunication Company

KARACHI: Directorate of Post Clearance Audit Karachi has recovered Rs21.378 million from M/s Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, which were evaded/short-paid through mis-declaration of classification.

M/s Pakistan Telecommunication Company imported ‘IPTV/OTT Hybrid HD STB B706D ZTE’ by declaring the same under PCT heading 8517.6950 and cleared the imported goods from MCC Appraisement West through their clearing agent M/s Rayan Agencies Pvt Ltd on payment of CD 10%, ST17% and IT5.5%.

The imported goods are correctly classifiable under PCT Heading 8528.7290 chargeable to CD 20%, RD 10%, ST 17%, AST 3% and IT 5.5%.Through this mis-declaration the company evaded Rs21.378 million of government’s legitimate revenue.

Accordingly, Director PCA Gul Rehman issued an Audit Observation. M/s Pakistan Telecommunication in response to the Audit Observation has submitted the evaded amount of Rs21.378 million.

Directorate of PCA Karachi has made record performance in the last two years under the able leadership of Director Gul Rehman. Scores of cases involving revenue of billions of rupees were made, which has secured government revenue because mis-declaration, mis-classification and under-invoicing etc have been reduced to a significant extent.
