ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Baitul Mal and Mobilink have signed an MoU to disburse money among poor families through MobiCash, a mobile-phone carrier’s branchless banking service.

Under the Child Support Programme (CSP), Baitul Mal distributes a monthly sum of Rs300 for one child and Rs600 for two or more children belonging to poor families in order to support primary education.
In the pilot phase, the plan has been rolled out in District Khairpur, but the PBM plans to expand it to all over the country in the next phases. To ensure transparency, payment to beneficiaries will start after biometric verification.
