RTO- Multan seizes record of oil factory due to sales tax evasion

MULTAN: A team of the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Inland Revenue has raided an oil and soap factory located on Bahawalpur Road on the allegations of sales tax evasion and seized the record under section 38 of the Sales Tax Act 1990.

According to sources, the Inland Revenue team made a sudden raid on the factory owned by Khawaja Muhammad Fazil , chairman of All Pakistian Oil Mills Association, on the special directions of high officials and had taken the computers, laptops, account books, registers and ledgers into custody for further investigations.

It is learnt that owner of the factory has allegedly been involved in showing very low sales in monthly sales tax return and as a result a very little sales tax has been paid to the RTO and the taken records also reveals the sales tax embezzlement and the department has held proceeding under the criminal act.

Multan RTO Commissioner Hafiz Jamil Awaisi has appointed the Commissioner Multan zone as an inquiry officer to investigate the sales tax evasion.

It is pertinent to mention that during the raid of RTO team when they were busy in stock checking and taking, a team of livestock alongwith Police also raided the industry and recovered 194 sacks of  forged and adulterated oilcake (Khal).

The livestock team has also submitted an application against the owner of the mill  in Basti Malook Police station for the registration of a case and the Police have started further investigations regarding this matter.
