Sale of smuggled drugs: Customs court grants post-arrest bail to suspect

KARACHI: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has granted post-arrest bail to two suspects in a case pertaining to the sale of counterfeit and smuggled drugs.

Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi approved the bail of two suspects, Ghulam Muhammad and Adil, with surety bonds of Rs 1 million each. The Judge also confirmed the interim bails granted to two other suspects Ahmed Abdul Ghaffar and Muzamil in the same case.

In August, 2015 Federal Investigation Agency Corporate Crime Circle raided five warehouses located at Gaziyani Plaza, Central Plaza and Al-Zainab Court and recovered a large quantity of counterfeit and smuggled drugs worth 25 million.

Ghulam Muhammad and Adil, who were alleged to be engaged in the sale of counterfeit and smuggled medicines, were taken into custody and an FIR was registered against them and others at the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle, Karachi.

 

Ahmed Abdul Ghaffar and Muzamil had been granted interim pre-arrest bails by the trial court.
