Khan suggests using thousands of tiny, low-Earth orbit satellites to beam Internet all over the planet. Four thousand six hundred of these micro-satellites would be enough to provide 200GB per month to five billion Internet users.

As Khan explains, the problem is: “As more people connect to the Internet, increasingly chat to friends and family, watch videos on the move, and listen to streamed music on their mobile devices, mobile data traffic continues to grow at unprecedented rates.”

His/Samsung’s proposal can be added to those of Google, Facebook, SpaceX and O3B, which have also thought up ways to provide Internet worldwide.
