Sara-e-Muhajar ASO impounds non duty paid Toyota car

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sara-e-Muhajir impounded foreign origin used Toyota Corolla car in Gray colour.  The market value of the impounded vehicle is Rs8,37,120 involving customs duty to the tune of Rs4,27,120.

Sources told Customs Today, that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received information regarding some non duty paid vehicles plying on roads. After receiving the information he constituted a raiding team comprising Muhammad Umar, (inspector), Muhammad Ashraf Khan (havaldar), Sher Ahmad, Said Rasool and Faiz Ahmad (sepoys).

The ASO team intercepted a Toyota car bearing registration no: AUX-589 Karachi near Sarai-e-Muhajir district Bhakkar and asked the owner of the vehicle Ghulam Ghous to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicles. But the owner failed to show any relevant documents.

After his failure the ASO seized the vehicle under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 by adopting the legal formalities section 3 of the Sales Tax Act 1990 and section 148 of income tax ordinance 2001. The ASO team seized the vehicle and registered a case against the accused person.
