FAISALABAD: The Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Sarai Muhajir of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded a Non-Duty-Paid Hino truck with registration No: LES-12-7741, Model 1994, worth Rs5million involving customs duty and taxes of Rs2.9million.
Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Rana Irfan Shouqat received a tip-off about the Non-Duty-Paid vehicles plying on roads. He constituted a team consisting of M Tahir Iqbal, Superintendent, Mansoor Nasir, Ansar Saleemi, Adnan Ahmed Chandia, Intelligence Officers (IO), Mukhtar Ahmed, M Usman Iqbal and Fakhar Abbas, Sepoys.
The FIU team intercepted the said truck near Sargodha Road Bypass Faisalabad and asked the possessor of the vehicle, identified as Aqeel Ahmed son of Muhammad Hanif, a resident of tehsil and district Bhakkar, to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle but he failed to do so.
The FIU Sarai Muhajir team took the truck into possession and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for legal proceeding.
