Sargodha ASO confiscates 4,080kg black tea worth Rs 2.7m

FAISALABAD: The Custom Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Sargodha, has seized 4,080 kilogram of black tea worth Rs 2.77 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 411,457.

Following information received through Additional Collector (ADC) Saeed Asad, an ASO team rushed to Ghalla Mandi Sargodha and found smuggled bags of black tea, which were being unloaded from a truck outside Sargodha Public Goods Forwarding Agency.

On demand, the manager produced a receipt but remained failed to show documents regarding the legal import of the black tea on which the officials confiscated the tea under the customs laws. The name of the accused person in this case is identified as Zainul Abedin son of Haji Meharban.

The ASO team comprising Inspector Ansar Saleemi, Bashir Ahmad, Sepoys Abdul Hameed, Muhammad Feroz, Muhammad Mansha, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Iqbal and Shafqat Mehmood conducted raids.

The seizure report has been submitted to the adjudication department for further legally process.
