KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday stayed the recovery of tax liability of Rs 208,400 from M/s MIMA Trading Limited on a petition filed by the company against disputed tax liability.
A division bench of the SHC headed by Justice Munib Akhter also issued notices to Commissioner Inland Revenue, Zone – III, Regional Tax Office, II and Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue, directing them to file their respective comments in the next hearing.
Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel stated that petitioner is trader of leather goods and paying all liabilities, however, the respondents had issued notices to the petitioner for recovery of disputed tax liability of Rs. 208,400 created on the basis of illegal and unjustified under the sales tax for the period of July 2012 to June 2013.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that it has filed an appeal before the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue Karachi which has been fixed on 18 April 2016 but the respondents are still harassing the petitioner
The counsel pleaded the SHC to pass the stay order and restrain the respondents from taking any action against the petitioner.
