Sargodha ASO confiscates smuggled items worth Rs 7.5m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Sargodha has seized foreign origin LED TVs, UPS, TV kits, jute bags and also carrier vehicle worth Rs 7.505 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1.314 million.

The ASO team intercepted a Mazda Truck bearing Registration No. C-3939 near Salam Interchange, Sargodha and recovered electronics. The officials asked the driver named Painda Khan to show document regarding the legal import of the items but he could not do the same.

Therefore the ASO confiscated smuggled items with contravention law under Section 168 of Custom Act, 1969 of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 read with Section 3(1)3 of the Import and Export Control Act, 1950 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89,90 of the Customs Act, 1969. The items were being transported from Peshawar to Kasur.

ASO team comprising Inspector Ansar Saleemi, Bashir Ahmad, Sepoy Abdul Hameed, Muhammad Feroz, Muhammad Mansha, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Iqbal and Shafqat Mehmood participated in the raid.
