Sargodha ASO impounds non-duty paid jeep during road checking

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sargodha has impounded a non-duty paid foreign origin jeep model 1990 during road checking. The market value of the seized vehicle is Rs 1.2 million involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 80,000.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan received information that some non-duty paid vehicles are plying on the roads which are brought into the country through unauthorized routes and without payment of duty and taxes.

After receiving the information Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan constituted a raiding team comprising Superintendent Choudhary Muhammad Sardar, Inspector Bashir Ahmed, Inspector Ansir Saleemi, Inspector Mehar Ameer ali, and Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Iqbal, Hafiz Nasir Ahmed, Shafqat Mehmood, Muhammad Mansha (sepoys).

The ASO team established various check posts on the roads and started checking of vehicles. During checking the ASO team intercepted a jeep bearing registration no, LOD-8211- near Vegowal Tool Plaza Khushab Road Sargodha and asked the owner of the  jeep, who was identified as Javeed Iqbal son of Khan Muhammad, a resident of Kond district Khushab, to produce legal documents regarding the import of the vehicle but the owner failed to provide the same.

Upon his failure, the ASO team seized the vehicle under section 2(S), of the customs act 1969 read with SRO 566(1)2005 section 16, 18, of the Customs Act 1969 and registered a case against him.
