Sargodha ASO seizes non duty paid items during crackdown

SARGODHA: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized foreign origin non duty paid almond without shell and aluminium foil from a vehicle. The estimated value of the smuggled items is Rs 3 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Asif Mahmood Jah received credible information that some items are being brought into the country without paying custom duty and taxes.

Following the information the ASO team comprising Superintendent Choudhary Muhammad Sardar, Inspecto Bashir Ali Ansar Saleemi, Sepoys Muhammad Iqbal Muhammad Mansha Muhammad Amin Muhammad Imran and Muhammad Ashraf started checking of vehicles near Police Station Urban Area.

During checking the ASO team intercepted a Mazda truck. That vehicle was loaded with almonds without shell 1600 kilograms aluminium foil 540 kilograms. The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle Bilal Khan to provide documents regarding possession and transporting of above said items but he remained failed.

After that the ASO team seized the items under Section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 for violation of Section 2(s) 16 18 of the Customs Act 1969. The ASO team arrested the accused and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication department.
