Sargodha ASO seizes smuggled US diesel generator valued Rs05.9m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization of Sargodha impounded a foreign origin diesel generator worth Rs05.9million involving customs duty and taxes of Rs01.5million. The ASO team also impounded a carrier vehicle valued Rs01.5million being used for smuggling.

Collector Muhammad Sadiq received a tip-off about the said contraband generator. The customs authorities set up a picket under the supervision of Superintendent Javeed Mehmood.

The team intercepted a Mazda truck with registration No: LES-6364 under Section of Customs Act-1969 near Toll Plaza, Lahore Road, Sargodha, loaded with foreign origin generator (350-KVA) modelled 2012 of USA made.

The ASO team asked the driver of vehicle named Javid Masi son of Haider Masi to produce the legal documents of the import of the generator but he failed to do so. So the ASO team impounded the generator and vehicle on the spot.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization Sargodha Superintendent also registered a case against the accused and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
