FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sargodha has impounded imported smuggled miscellaneous items of different brands. The market value of the seized goods is Rs8.1million involving duties and taxes of Rs4.4million besides taking into possession a carrier trailer priced at Rs3million.
Sources told Customs Today that an ASO team, consisting of Choudhary Sardar Muhammad (Superintendent), Malik Atif Mumtaz, Bashir Ahmad (Inspectors) and Rana Muhammad Ashraf, Afzal Hussain, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad (Sepoys), intercepted a trailer bearing registration No: JV-3188 near Sial Morr interchange Sargodha and recovered mobiles’ chargers of assorted mobile phones, portable auto scanner pocket radios, Instant gas water heaters, optical computers with mouse, digital LEDs, Gas-kit auto 4 cylinders, children’s joggers, PU artificial leather, wall mounted desk telephone sets and other different branded items.
The ASO team asked the trucker, identified as Ghulam Abbas, to produce the legal documents regarding the possession of items, but he failed to do the same. So the ASO team impounded all the goods and registered a case of smuggling against the accused according to the customs bylaws.
