RIYADH: Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, second deputy premier and minister of defense, arrived in Moscow on Wednesday on a high-profile visit to discuss key issues with Russian leaders including President Vladimir Putin.
Prince Mohammed’s landmark visit will help the two countries explore possibilities of expanding cooperation in diversified fields.
Saudi Ambassador to Russia Abdulrahman Al-Rassi said the visit of the deputy crown prince will strengthen economic, cultural, political and trade relations with Russia.
The visit would see the two sides create a structure for institutional bilateral dialogue, schedule mutual visits, cooperation on research and the media, and activate institutions such as the Saudi-Russian Business Council, the ambassador said.
Al-Rassi said that the countries’ relations go back to 1926 when the Soviet Union was the first country to recognize King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman as the Sultan of Najd and Hejaz.
