Senate Committee to review SECP report tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee for Finance will discuss the report of Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) on the alleged corruption of $17.5 million in Multan Metro Bus Project.

The meeting of the committee will be held on 7th September tomorrow in Parliament House under the chairmanship Senator Saleem Mandviwala.

Chairman FBR Tariq Mehmood Pasha, Member Operation Inland Revenue Khawaja Tanveer Ahmad and Member Inland Revenue Policy Dr. Muhammad Iqbal along with other FBR officials will attend the meeting.

Senate Finance committee will take up the issue regarding the alleged double booking of Rs.64 billion of Pakistan Development Fund Limited (PDFL) as non tax revenue to understate budget deficit.

Officials of finance division will give in camera briefing to committee members on the total borrowing by the government with particular reference to the Chinese banks during the last four years including mark-up rates.

Committee will also consider the public petition 1942, submitted by Muhammad Babar Haq, regarding revision of currency carrying limit from Pakistan, referred by the chairman Senate to the committee for disposal with in thirty working days or before 27th September 2017.
