Senate Finance Committee members laud FBR performance

ISLAMABAD: Members of Senate Standing Committee on Finance led by Senator Mohsin Aziz called on Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Nisar Mohammad Khan in FBR House.

During the meeting, the members of the Senate body expressed their appreciation for including committee’s recommendations in finance bill. They also hailed the performance of the FBR chairman and his team. They expressed the hope that under the dynamic leadership of Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan the FBR will show outstanding performance in achieving its goals.

On the occasion Chairman Nisar Mohammad apprised the Senate delegation about the strategy of FBR in collection of taxes. He said that FBR always tried to expand tax net to decrease burden on tax payers. He said that we are well informed about the hardship of common man while on the other hand we are well aware about government priorities. He said that FBR introduced Voluntarily Tax Compliance Scheme (VTCS) in the best interest of the country.

Chairman Nisar informed the delegation that FBR will take stern action against those tax evaders who are not filing their income tax returns willfully. The Senate delegation lauds FBR efforts in achieving revenue collection target set for Fiscal Year 2015-16. They expressed the hope that FBR will definitely meet the revenue target.

Chairman FBR also explained the reasons for not entertaining some proposals forwarded by Senate members in finance bill. At the end members of Senate Standing Committee on Finance assured theri full support to FBR.
