The report covered all the issues and matter brought in the notice of the committee by the ministry and attached departments in the last three years. Now the report is likely to be presented before the Senate for approval. After approval, the report will be made part of official documents related to the business of the House.

As per the rules of business of the Senate, every standing, functional or select committee is bound to prepare and present the performance report before the House. Mostly, committees present their report after completion of a specific tenure or time frame given by the House.

New National Assembly and all the four provincial assemblies elect 52 new senators after the retirement of half of the members of the Senate after every three years.

This time, a number of members of the Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping are retiring after the completion of their six-year tenure; therefore, the committee thought it necessary to present the performance report before the House to get approval from even the retiring members.

Senators including Mir Hasil Khan Bazenjo, Sabir Ali Baloch, Sardar Yaqoob Khan Nasir, Babar Khan Ghauri and few others are going to retire after completion of their respective tenures.

As the entire ports and shipping network exists in Balochistan and Sindh, the chairmanship of Senate Committee on Ports and Shipping is often granted to a members hailing from these provinces, while most of the members of this committee are also nominated from both these provinces.
