ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Finance has approved 20 percent increase in salaries of the government employees.
The committee met here under the chairmanship of Senator Saleem H. Mandviwala. The committee also reviewed the Budget 2016-17. Among those who attended the meeting were Senator Mohsin Khan Leghari, Miss Ayesha Raza Farooq, Mushahidullah, Saud Majeed, Sardar Fateh Mohammad Hasni, Mohsin Aziz, Farhatullah Babar, Mohammad Usman Khan Kakar, Azam Swati and Secretary Finance Ministry Waqar Masood.
The committee recommended to enhance funds for FATA University from Rs250 million to Rs1000 million. The committee expressed its reservations over delay in announcement of NFC Award. The committee urged the government to keep opposition on board while obtaining loans from foreign institutions. The committee proposed to decrease expenditure of government advertisement, foreign tours of prime minister and other government officials.
