ISLAMABAD: Several officers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from BS-19 and 20 could not be promoted due to intelligence reports, favoritism and administration sluggishness.

According to details, many officers of BS-19 and 20 are not promoted to the next grade and they are feeling discouraged.

The Central Selection Board did not promote FBR Chief International Customs Dr Zubair Yousafani (BS-20) as report from an intelligence organisation claims that the officer had worked with US and German organisations and has a good relation with them. It is important to mention here that this is 2nd time that Zubair Yousafani is not promoted to grade 21.

Similarly FBR Chief Legal Wing of grade 19 remains unsuccessful to get the next grade due to administrative sluggishness. The file of an inquiry report — in which he got cleared — could not be processed by the administration on time so the Central Selection Board rejected his name for promotion to grade 20.

Meanwhile there are several other grades 19, 20 officers who are not promoted as a result of suspicious intelligence reports. Some other officers say that they are superseded due to favoritism. They claim that they are competent enough and deserve promotion.
