ISLAMABAD: Shahid Zulfiqar Khan, a cost and Management Account and Certified Corporate Secretary has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Nandipur Power Plant.
Sources told Customs Today that Shahid, who has over 30 years experience in power sector in Middle East, Sri Lanka and Pakistan had special expertise in power plant development and had operated large scale power plants in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
The appointment has been made after adopting due process provided under the Public Sector companies (Corporate Governance) Rules, 2013 and after approval from the Prime Minister.
He remained Chief Executive Officer for 13 years with second largest Power Producer in Pakistan.
He remained associated with largest independent power producers in the world, AES US Corporation for 17 years in various senior capacities.
Shahid hold various distinctions for turning around businesses in AES. The NTPGCL’s Board of Directors (BoD) initiated hiring of CFO from the market.
After finalization of job description and eligibility criteria for the position of Chief Executive Officer, an advertisement was placed in press on in February 2015.
A total of 31 application were received. Upon preliminary screening of the applications, 24 candidates were screened out and based on the evaluation criteria, 8 candidates were short listed for the interview.
The Board of Directors of Nandipur Thermal Power Generation Company Limited (GENCO-V) had forwarded following 3 names for consideration for the post of Chief Executive Officer including Shahid Z. Khan, Zia Imran and Ismail H. Naqvi.
