KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ordered Customs Appraisement-West to release the consignment of M/s Farooq Corporation.
The SHC issued directive as the company has agreed to pay all duty, taxes, and penalty in the mis-declaration case, in which the company imported baby tricycle batteries instead of declared baby trike parts, evading taxes of Rs0.992 million.
Faisal Ghani advocate through their counsels submitted before the court that Farooq Corporation is ready to pay all duties and taxes assessed by the concerned authority. The company has agreed to furnish solvent surety in the sum of Rs 0.5 million, which could be retained by the department 15 days after passing of order-in-original.
The accused company was importing baby tricycle battery in guise of baby trike parts through mis-declaration of description and gross under valuation. After examination of the consignment by Directorate of Customs Intelligence (Enforcement) and Customs Collectorate (Appraisement-West), it was confirmed that baby tricycle batteries were being imported instead of declared baby trike parts, evading taxes of Rs0.992 million.
