SHC directs parties to conclude arguments on petition filed by M/s Haji Yasir Goods

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed customs officials to complete their arguments on a contempt petition filed by Muhammad Sajid, a representative of M/s Haji Yasir Goods Forwarding Agency, against Tahir Qureshi, Director, Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation and Mukhtar Ali Shaikh, Deputy Director of the Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation for disobeying the court order. A two-member bench heard the petition.

Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that the court may initiate contempt proceedings against the officials for disobeying the judgment order of the Customs Appellate Tribunal in customs appeal dated January 09, 2017 in which the tribunal had ordered them to allow the petitioner benefit of amnesty scheme as envisaged under erstwhile SRO 172(1)/2013 dated 05/03/2017.
