SHC issues notice to FBR, Customs Valuation on value of toilet soaps

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notices to Revenue Division secretary/ FBR chairman Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs and Revenue, Customs, Appraisement-West collector, Valuation director and Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan directing them to file their respective comments on an application filed by M/S Abdullah & Company and M/S A.R.G Enterprises against fixation customs value of toilet soaps.

The SHC division beach headed by Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah directed the respondents to make sure the submission of their comments on the next hearing. Earlier, the petitioners’ counsel stated that importers are engaged in the lawful import of “toilet soaps” from various sources all over the world, including Indonesia, Malaysia and UAE. But the respondent have aggrieved it by fixing the customs value of toilet soaps vide valuation ruling on May 27, 2015.
