SHC postpones hearing of cases as lawyers boycott court proceedings

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday day postponed the hearing of cases on the third consecutive day due to boycott of lawyers against kidnapping of Owais Ali Shah advocate, son of SHC Chief Justice SajjadAli Shah.

On Thursday, the judges wanted to hear the cases but president of the Sindh High Court Bar Association approached the Cheif Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and informed that bar announced the boycott. The court proceedings remained suspended on Tuesday and Wednesday as well.

According to the roster, the cases were fixed for hearing before a division bench, headed by Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, customs and income tax related cases including those which were filed by M/s Fateh Textile Mills Limited, M/s IPP, M/s Fuel Trader, Riaz Abdul Razzak and others.

Another SHC bench, comprising Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, cases were fixed for hearing including M/s Paradise Pipe Industries  & Engineering Works,  M/s Tughlac Paper Mills,  Shell Pakistan Ltd,  Exide Pakistan (battery plant hub) Employees Union, Star Enterprises, M/s Admore Gas Pvt Ltd, M/s Mariam Enterprises & others, Abbas Ahmed and others.
