SHC reserves judgment in dozens of concessionary rate of tax cases

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has reserved the judgment in dozens of cases pertaining to concession in respect of import of cotton lint, generators and pharmaceutical grade material.

The cases were heard by a SHC appellate bench, comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Nazar Akbar.

The petitioners maintained that they imported consignments of basic material and sought concessionary rate of taxes etc but the Custom Collector rejected a clarification and ordered that concession is not available to the petitioner. The counsel for one of the petitioners submitted that he was enjoying the facility till 1995 which was suddenly withdrawn.

Masooda Siraj, Sardar Zafar Hussain advocate represented Customs Department while Advocate Khalid Javed Khan appeared for the Ginning and Spining Mills.
