SHC seeks comments from customs on removal of consignment from port area

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notices to chairman FBR, collector of customs, and deputy attorney general Pakistan to file their respective comments on a application seeking removal of the consignment from Port area to bonded warehouse.

The SHC division bench, headed by Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, directed the respondents to make sure the submission of their respective comments in the next hearing.

Earlier, the counsel of the petitioner ( Bismillah Industry ) stated that petitioner imported two consignments of “prime quality pre painted steel coils ” on 23rd February and 22nd March 2016. However respondents are delaying into bonding of the consignments for last 24 days which resulting into serious in injury in terms of heavy penalties to the petitioner.

The Importer said that respondents through their illegal act of omission are trying to harass the petitioner by assessing the said consignments to being secondary quality.

The Counsel requested the SHC to direct the respondents not to delay in removal of the consignments from Port area to bonded warehouse.
