KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has given last and final chance to the deputy attorney general of Pakistan to submit para-wise comments on behalf of the tax authorities on a petition filed by Faraz Haroon, seeking bail in an alleged mega sales tax fraud case involving Rs 64.058 million.
A single-bench comprising Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro was hearing the petition. During the hearing, Younus Inayat Advocate, on behalf Mohsin Imam, special prosecutor customs authority stated that he is on general adjournment, however, the learned counsel for the applicant/accused has drawn court’s attention to the last order, whereby, it was observed that no further adjournment will be granted and the matter will be decided after hearing the learned deputy attorney general.
However, deputy attorney general also called absent during the hearing, therefore, the court adjourned the hearing and given as a last and final chance for submitting comments on August 17, 2016.
According to the prosecution, FIR No 02/2015-16 dated November 11, 2015 was registered by Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation on the charges of sales tax evasion Rs 64.058 million.
Case has been registered under Section 2 (37 ) ,3,6,7,8,10,22,23,26,and 73 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990 punishable under Section 33 ( 1 ) & (13 ) ibid.
