Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Brisk shipping was recorded at the port where five ships C.V Maersk Stepnica, M.V Orion-3, M.V Horizon and M.T Methane Heater Sally carrying Containers, Soya Bean seeds, Palm oil and LNG were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Wednesday, 15thJune-2016. In the meantime three more ships C.V Priority, M.T Yas and M.T As Orelia with Containers, LPG and Chemicals also got anchored at outer anchorage of Port Qasim.

Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 73% on Wednesday where a total of ten ships namely C.V Maersk Stepnica, C.V Lloyd Don Carlos, C.V CMA CGM Tosca, C.V Northern Magnum, M.V An African, M.V Orion-3, M.V Horizon, M.T Methane Heater Sally, M.T Genuine Galaxy, and M.T Okyroe are currently occupying terminals to load/offload Containers, Cement, Soya Bean Seeds, Chemical, LNG, Pam oil and Furance oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling operation were carried out efficiently at the Port where a cargo volume of 175,656 tonnes, comprising 124,626 tonnes import cargo and 51,030 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried 3,749 Containers (TEUs) (1,223 imports TUEs & 2,526 TUEs exports) was handled during last 24 hours.

C.V CMA CGM Tosca sailed out to sea on Thursday morning while another oil tanker Okyroe is expected to sail on same day afternoon. Four ships C.V Priority and M.T Al-Jalaa scheduled to load/offload Containers and Crude oil are expected to take berths at QICT and FOTCO respectively on Thursday, 16th June-2016. While M.T Yas is due to arrive at port Qasim on same day.
