Hundreds of inquiries into corruption cases pending in Gujranwala Division due to shortage of staff

SIALKOT: Hundreds of inquiries into corruption cases are pending due to the shortage of senior officials and junior staff at all the offices of Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in Gujranwala Division.

According to sources, more than 50 posts had been lying vacant in all the six districts of the Gujranwala Division since long. The districts are Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala.

It was learnt that the several applicants have given up pursuing their applications for inquiry after becoming disappointed due to prolonged pendency and non-availability of the senior and junior officials at ACE offices here. As many as 193 posts of senior officials and junior staff were sanctioned by the Punjab government at ACE offices in this region, out of which 50 seats were still lying vacant since long.

According to the concerned officials, as many as four seats of assistant directors had been lying vacant out of total six posts at ACE Gujranwala Directorate. There were six posts of deputy director out of which five posts have been lying vacant since long. The most important post was of deputy director (technical), which had been lying vacant for the last one and half years. All the seven posts of ACE assistant directors (investigation) had been lying vacant since long. While, six seats of senior clerks, eight seats of naib qasids, four constables, three head clerks and two seats of ASIs had also been lying vacant there since long.
