Sialkot ASO confiscates smuggled electronics goods worth millions of rupees

SIALKOT: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized a huge quantity of the smuggled electric appliances, including radios, home theatres, mobile phones, LCD TVs and LEDs from a truck.

As per details, the ASO team, following the instructions of Collector Model Customs Collectorate Sialkot Dr Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhry, Additional Collector Khawja Naeem Khurram and Palwasha Saeed, conducted raid to hold the smuggled items.

The team intercepted a truck on GT Road near Pindi Bhattian and recovered China, Iran and Afghanistan origin electronic items and were being transported to Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore and Gujranwala for their sale in the local markets.

The ASO team asked the driver to produce the documents showing the legal import of the items, but the driver could not comply with the instructions due to not having any such documents.

Therefore, the customs official seized the item, besides arresting the accused truck driver and his helper.
