Sialkot ASO foils bid to smuggle cigarettes at Kamoke

SIALKOT: While busting a smuggling attempt in the region, the Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has confiscated smuggled cigarettes worth Rs 1.2 million.

Reportedly, Sialkot ASO Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhry deployed a team under the supervision of Inspector Sheikh Ikram on GT Road to curb a possible smuggling attempt.

The team set up a check post at Kamoke Toll Plaza and checked every passing vehicle. During the checking, the officials recovered a cache of foreign origin cigarettes from a vehicle. The driver was asked to show documents regarding the legal import of the items but he remained failed to do the same.

Therefore, the officials took the recovered cigarettes into the customs under the customs laws and registered a case against the accused person.
