Sialkot ASO impounds Toyota Hilux worth Rs 1.5m

SIALKOT: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf worth Rs 1.5 during an action at Grand Trunk (GT) Road.

Reportedly, the ASO team under the supervision of Inspector Arshad Hussain Mayo was checking vehicles on GT road near Wazirabad under anti-smuggling campaign when it intercepted a vehicle Toyota Hilux Surf worth.

The team asked driver named Rafi to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he could not produce the same; therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle under customs laws.

The officials released the driver after interrogation and directed him to convey a message to the owner of the vehicle to appear before the authority along with documents of customs clearance and payment of duty/taxes.

The officials said that the vehicle will be sent to laboratory for forensic test, adding that the case will be sent to the adjudication for further legal proceedings. The vehicle will be set for auction if the case is decided in favour of the Faisalabad ASO, they added.
