SIALKOT: The Model Customs Collectorate is rigorously pursuing an anti-smuggling campaign, as it confiscated smuggled items worth Rs 34.8 million during June and July 2016.
Following the instructions of Sialkot Customs Collector Ahmad Reza Khan, Deputy Collector Muhammad Hanif and his anti-smuggling squad comprising Superintendent Muhammad Naeem Khan, inspectors Arshad Hussain, Amjad, Abdul Latif and others conducted various raids in the region and busted various smuggling attempts.
During same corresponding period of last year 2015, the customs anti-smuggling team confiscated items goods worth Rs 26.51 million.
The department detected cases involving Rs 355.32 million during outgoing fiscal year 2015-16, while it confiscated items worth Rs 296.28 million during preceding year 2014-15.
Officials said that the anti-smuggling staff was performing its duty devotedly and honestly to curb smuggling in the region. They added that vigilance has been enhanced at roads and airport to prevent the smuggling of non-duty paid items.
