Sialkot ASO seizes smuggled Iranian dates worth Rs 3.5m

SIALKOT: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized 22,000 kilograms dry dates of Iranian origin which were loaded on two trucks.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO team was performing duty under the supervision of Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary and Inspector Sheikh Ikram at Kamoke Toll Plaza GT Road.

During the checking of the vehicles, the team intercepted two trucks and recovered 22,000 kilograms of smuggled Iran origin dry dates worth Rs 3.5 million.

The team asked the drivers of both trucks to show legal documents regarding possession of dates but they failed to provide any relevant documents in this regard. After their failure ASO team seized the dates but released the drivers after thorough investigations. ASO team registered a case of smuggling against the owner of the consignments.
