Sialkot ASO seizes smuggled items worth Rs 7m during September, October

SIALKOT: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Model Customs Collectorate, Sialkot, has conducted various operations against smugglers and recovered smuggled items worth Rs 7 million during months of September and October 2016.

Customs officials told Customs Today that under the directions of customs collector, Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary constituted different ASO teams to curb smuggling. The teams comprising Superintendent Sardar Manzoor Ahmed, Inspectors Aftab Ahmed, Aamir, Nazar Hussain, Amjad and Arshad Hussian while constables Asif and Naeem.

During the various raids the teams impounded three non-duty paid and tempered vehicles worth Rs5 million whereas 1859 cell phones, cumin, clothes etc of 2 million. The ASO after registering cases referred before the Adjudication Court for further proceedings. The learned court will announce judgment then the management of the department liable to auction of impounded vehicles and confiscated items.

Chairman Federal Board Of Revenue (FBR) has appreciated the Performance of ASO of Sialkot Customs because the collector customs and other officers and officials are taking keen interest to curb smuggling whereas the informer of department are very punctual and they inform department in time. While the department make assure the information of informer and they ASO get success on behalf of their informer information. Sources told that the ratio of smuggling has been decreased in the Gujranwala Division while it will be more decreased soon rather the smugglers will go on decline and they stop smuggling of smuggled items because the ASO has tighten nose around the them.
