Sialkot Customs collects Rs 19.8m as customs duty in eight month

SIALKOT: The Model Customs Collectorate Sialkot has collected Rs 19.82 in terms of customs duty in eight months starting from January 2015 and ending on August 2015.

As per details, the MCC Sialkot has surpassed the revenue collection target under the head of customs duty made by it during the corresponding period of last year to the tune of Rs 15.96 million.

Official sources said that the Sialkot region had collected Rs 7.63 million as customs duty during July 2015 which is Rs 1.31 million more than the Rs 6.32 million collection of the same period of last year, 2014.

They said that department was striving to achieve the revenue collection target under all heads for the running fiscal year 2015-16. They also denied the impression that customs officials received customs duty in advance from the importers in order to meet the targets.

Responding to a query, they said that FBR has to revise the revenue collection targets sometimes keeping in view the unfavourable circumstances, adding that tax collection was increasing every year due to effective policies of the department.
