Sialkot Customs confiscates cloth worth Rs 1.5m

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized 147 cartons of Indian origin cloth worth Rs 1.5 million during a raid.

According to the details, Deputy Director Salman Afzal received information that a huge quantity of smuggled Indian cloth is being transport from Peshawar to Sialkot, Gujrat, Mandi Bhauddin, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Lahore and Narrowal.

The deputy director formed a team comprising Superintendent Saifullah, Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Anwar, Inspector Naseer Ahmed and Saeed Farooqi. The team established a checkpoint near River Chenab.

Meanwhile, the raiding team stopped a truck and found 147 cartons of Indian made cloth that has been seized as the driver could not produce documents of customs clearance. The officials have arrested the driver and helper for interrogation.
