Sialkot Customs impounds non-duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf worth Rs 1.2m

SIALKOT: A team of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Gujranwala division, has impounded a non-customs duty paid Toyota Hilux Surf worth Rs 1.2 million on Narowal road.

Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Zainab Mehmood formed a team comprising  Superintendent Muhammad Akmal and Inspector Mian Muhammad Yousaf on Narowal road to check non-duty paid vehicles.

Sources said that Inspector Yousaf along with his team members constables Rasheed, Boota, Riasat and others started checking of vehicles.. The team intercepted a Toyota Hilux Surf which was plying on roads without payment of customs duty.

The team asked its driver, Ghulam Rasool, about legal documents regarding possession of Toyota Hilux Surf. The driver failed to show any relevant documents. The team impounded vehicle and shifted the it Customs Intelligence and Investigation department office situated at Gujranwala. The team released driver after proper interrogation.

It is learnt that the owner of impounded vehicle is an influential person and he is a residing in Lahore whereas he basically belong to Narowal. The team inform driver if the owner will present customs paid documents within three days then vehicle will be released otherwise it will be sent to laboratory for test and case will be registered as per law.
