Sialkot Customs detains two trucks loaded with smuggled scrap

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded two trucks loaded with Omani scrap.

Sources informed Customs Today that Deputy Director Muhammad Anwar received credible information about smuggling attempts. After receiving the tip-off, he formed a team under the supervision of Inspector Majid Razaq. The team intercepted two trucks and recovered 97 tone scrap smuggled from Oman.

Sources said that the scrap was loaded from Karachi for Al-Mighty Gujranwala which is a furnace factory. The smuggled scrap was loaded without payment of customs duty. Office Incharge Sajjad Rubbani said that the scrap was imported from Oman but importer paid duty for only two tons and did not pay duty for 95 tons. He said that the department is scrutinizing the whole record in this regard.
