Sialkot Customs earns Rs3253.2m through LCL consignments

SIALKOT: The Deputy Collector Model Customs Collectorate Waheed Anwar Abro has said that the Less Container Load (LCL) consignments of sports goods, surgical and musical instruments, leather garments and gloves exported through Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) to other countries by cargo flights twice in a week. He said that Custom Preventive staff deputed at airport deeply checked all consignments.

While talking to Customs Today Abro said that the 15 to 20 LCL consignments exported through cargo flights in a week. He said that MCC Sialkot earned Rs3253.2 million during the months of October and November from LCL consignments. He said that MCC also earned Rs2.350 million from other luggage checking during said period.

He said that the performance of Customs Preventive staff is much better at Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL). He said that the present government and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have instructed the customs department to take measure to increase LCL cargo by air to strengthen the economy of country whereas all other  departments including Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Airport Security Force (ASF), Civil Aviation Authority and others to cooperate with the customs officials to curb smuggling of contraband items and increasing of LCL cargo by air.

He informed that Collector Ahmed Reza Khan is satisfied with the performance of Customs staff deputed at airport. He said that the Customs Preventive staff and staff other institutions must take stern action to curb smuggling and money laundering through the airports.
