Sialkot Customs impounds non-duty-paid vehicle valued Rs01.05m

SIALKOT: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Gujranwala Region impounded a vehicle Toyota Hilux Surf at Gujranwala City on the other day.

Under the directions of Deputy Director Customs Intelligence Ali Zeb Khan, Superintendent Tariq Rafique constituted a team under the supervision of Intelligence Officer/Inspector Mian Muhammad Yousaf to check the vehicles on Grand Trunk (GT) Road. The said Intelligence Officer/Inspector along with his team members Constables Usama, Mubashir, Boota, Arslan and Sajid Raza started checking vehicle. After changing many vehicles, the team intercepted a Toyota Hilux Surf with registration No: WAA-008 Model-1998 worth Rs1.5million.

The team asked Driver Riasat about the documents of the customs paid duty but he failed. The driver said he is only a driver of vehicle and owner is a renowned personality. However the staff impounded the vehicle. The team registered a case under Section 157/158/159 of the Customs bylaws. The team released the driver after proper interrogation.

It is learnt that the performance of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Gujranwala Region is much better for curbing smuggling in the region. The smugglers have stopped their activities in view of the vigorous campaign launched by the Anti-Smuggling Organization.
