Sialkot Customs recovers worth Rs15m heroin at airport

SIALKOT: The Customs Preventive Staff recovered 650 grams heroin worth Rs6 million from a passenger who was due to leave for Sharjah on a private airline from Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) on the other day.

Reportedly, when a resident of Narowal district Muhammad Ali entered the airport lounge, the Customs Preventive staff started searching him. Inspector Customs Preventive Asad Ullah recovered 650 grams heroin from his bag. The accused was handed over to Sub-Inspector ANF Mian Bilal for legal proceeding. A case was registered against accused Muhammad Ali on the report.

Meanwhile, another team of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) also recovered 1.2 kg heroin worth Rs9 million from the exported consignment boxes of surgical instruments from two persons Rasheed and Akhtar at Addah Begowala. The Begowala Police Station has registered a case against accused on the report of the ANF team.

However, accused were presented before the court of Judicial Magistrate/Senior Civil Judge Sialkot Shafique Abbas Kalia who granted judicial remand of accused for 14 days. Inspector Customs Preventive Asad Ullah told Customs Today that the Customs Preventive Staff and ANF are taking joint actions against money laundering and narcotics at airport under the directions of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Interior.
