Sialkot district govt announce Rs 12 billion development oriented budget

SIALKOT: The Sialkot district government has approved a Rs 12 billion tax free social welfare and human development oriented budget for fiscal year 2016-17, here. Neither any new tax has been levied nor the ratio of any old tax has not been increased.

Sialkot District Coordination Officer (DCO) Dr Asif Tufail told Customs Today that Rs 11.29 billion have been allocated for the development schemes, including allocation of Rs 7. 8 billion for education sector development in Sialkot district, which is 70 percent more than the last year’s budget allocation for education sector.

The DCO added that Sialkot district government has also allocated Rs 150 million for provision of medicines to the patients at all the government hospitals, basic health units (BHUs) and rural health centers (RHCs) in Sialkot district, as this budget was 70 percent more than the last year’s budget allocated for medicines.

He revealed that Rs 580 million have been cut from the special discretionary non-development funds of senior officials of district government Sialkot, as this cut in funds has been made first time in the history of Sialkot district. Eight million rupees have also been allocated for the promotion of sports in Sialkot, the DCO narrated.
