Sialkot, Gujranwala RTOs expedite efforts to meet target

SIALKOT: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Offices (RTOs), Gujranwala and Sialkot have expedited the efforts to meet the target of current fiscal year 2015-16 after the start of last quarter.

Sources told Customs Today that the RTOs have been directed by the FBR to meet the target in order to avoid departmental proceedings on not showing good performance. They added that lists were being prepared of people those are living lavish life but not paying taxes.

In order to recover taxes from tax evaders, the department will freeze the bank accounts and impose ban on the transfer of luxury vehicles, which are defaulter in customs duty.

The high ups of the Sialkot and Gujranwala RTOs have directed the subordinates to take stern action against the defaulters and meet the assigned targets before the end of current fiscal year. The recovery teams have also been instructed to hold meetings with excise officials and bank managers to trace the tax defaulters.

The RTOs will also seal the properties, besides impounding the vehicles of tax defaulters for recovering the outstanding arrears.
