SIALKOT: The Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) in Gujranwala and Sialkot are still facing shortage of staff as around 300 posts are lying vacant since long.
Sources told Customs Today that the employees are facing burden of work and it seems to be very difficult that they will meet the target for the financial year 2016-17. Sources said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has allocated 755 seats in both the offices. However, out of the 565 seats in the Income Tax Department, 125 seats are vacant. In Income Tax Department, two seats of commissioners, five seats of additional commissioners, eight seats of deputy commissioners, 28 seats of inspectors, seven seats of Inland Revenue officers, eight seats of steno typists, three seats of office superintendents, two seats of DEOs, 20 seats of upper division clerks, 27 seats of lower division clerks, eight seats of drivers, 26 seats of naib qasids, two seats of administrative officers, two seats of Assistant Director MIS, two seats of gardeners and two seats of sanitary workers are vacant.
In Sales Tax Department, 115 employees are working instead of 190 and there is a shortage of 75 employees. In the department, eight seats of superintendents, 23 seats of deputy superintendents, 16 seats of auditors, 12 seats of inspectors, eight seats of upper division clerks, six seats of lower division clerks, two seats of drivers, two seats of accounts officers, two seats of assistant directors MIS, two seats of office superintendents, two seats of steno typists, two seats of dispatch clerks, three seats of naib qasids and three seats of gardeners are vacant.
RTO Sialkot Region Spokesman Sufi Muhammad Sarwar told Customs Today that a list of vacant posts has been sent to the FBR Chairman Nisar Mohammad and there is hope that the vacant posts will be fulfill soon.
