Sindh High Court discharges Najam Hameed’s petition

KARACHI: A division bench of Sindh High Court discharged a petition filed by Najam Hameed, superintendent preventive services, challenging his suspension.

Najam Hameed has named Federation of Pakistan through the finance secretary, the Federal Board of Revenue chairman, FBR member (admin/customs) and other officials as respondents.

Hameed said that he was appointed in the Customs Department as preventive officer in July 1980 and was promoted to the senior preventive officer on a record seizure of gold. He said that he was again promoted to inspector in 2004.

The petitioner said he was issued a notification on September 12 without any show-cause notice and was suspended with immediate effect for three months. The petitioner requested the court to set aside the notification.
