SINGAPORE: Authorities have seized more than S$200,000 worth of illegal health products in Geylang, the highest value seized in any operation this year.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) had found an assortment of suspicious health products in a Geylang apartment during routine checks on May 18, and alerted the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), said the agencies in a joint news release here the other day.

HSA then seized more than 94,000 units of 80 different types of the illegal health products, mainly sexual enhancement drugs, from the apartment. A 22-year-old national Chinese national is currently assisting in investigations.

Anyone found guilty of an offence under the Poisons Act could face a fine of up to S$10,000 and/or up to two years in jail.

The agencies also warned consumers of the dangers of buying health products from dubious sources, as they may be illegal, counterfeit or substandard, and they may contain harmful ingredients.
