Six ships take berth at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Six ships Northern Monument, Mehun, Busan Trader, Ruby Star, Sea Fortune and Thomson Gas carrying Soya Bean Seeds, General Cargo and LPG were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively during last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) here on Wednesday.

Meanwhile three more ships, Da Dan Xia, Da Kang and Naving-8 Sky with General Cargo and Palm oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port during last 24 hours. A total of eleven ships namely, Northern Monument, Mehun, Busan Trader, MSC Al-Ghero, Sea Fortune, Pacific Talent, Azizi, Ruby Star, Al-Gharrfara, Thomson Gas and Corona are currently occupying PQA berths to load/offload Containers, General Cargo, Soya Bean Seeds, Coal, LNG, LPG and Palm oil respectively.

Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 130,378 tonnes, comprising 106,237 tonnes import cargo and 24,141 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,907 Containers (TEUs), (2,639 TEUs imports and 1,268 TEUs exports) was handled at the Port.

Three ships, Gas carrier, Al-Gharrfara, Container Vessel Busan Trader and General Cargo carrier Sea Fortune sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships, Edible oil ship “Corona”, Bulk cargo carrier “Pacific Talent” and Container Vessel “Northern Monument” are expected to sail on same day in the afternoon.

Five ships, DA Kang, Da Dan Xia, Endeavour Strait, Tiamat Gas and Nagig-8 Sky carrying General Cargo, Coal, LPG and Palm oil are expected to take berths at MW-1 MW-2, MW-4, SSGC and LCT respectively on Wednesday. While Container Vessels GSL Tianjin And MSC Susanne are due to arrive at PQ on Thursday.
