Smuggled cigarettes causing a loss of Rs 7.44b per annum

SIALKOT: The smuggling of banned cigarettes has touched new heights, as this practice is causing a loss of Rs 7.44 billion per annum to national kitty.

Sources told Customs Today that 20 percent smuggled cigarettes worth Rs 17.30 billion are used by smokers in Pakistan which reached the market without payment of any tax.

Sources told that the Customs Intelligence and Investigation and anti smuggling organizations are playing vital role to curb smuggling of banned and smuggled cigarettes in the country.
